Chocolate-Coated Chia Energy Balls

These Chocolate-Coated Chia Energy Balls are the ultimate snack-time upgrade, combining fibre-rich chia seeds, oats, nut butter, and dates into bite-sized fuel bombs. Each ball is enrobed in dark chocolate for a smooth, antioxidant-packed finish that feels indulgent while keeping nutrition front and centre. With protein, healthy fats, and sustained energy from whole-food ingredients, they’re ideal for on-the-go snacking, pre-gym fuel, or late-afternoon pick-me-ups.

Ingredients
  

  • 170 g oats use gluten free if preferred
  • 40 g walnut or pecan halves
  • 30 g vanilla flavour whey or plant-based protein powder optional
  • 2 tbsps chia seeds
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • a pinch of sea salt
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 120 g ripe banana, mashed
  • 80 g peanut butter or almond butter
  • 35 g dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa) melted, for coating

Instructions
 

  • Place all of the ingredients in a food processor. Blend until well combined and a dough-like consistency forms.
  • Blend in some cold water, 1 tsp at a time, if the mixture is too crumbly.
  • Roll into 11 balls.
  • Dip into the melted dark chocolate. Transfer to a plate or baking tray.
  • Refrigerate or freeze for 10 minutes, or until set.
  • Optional: Serve topped with a sprinkle of sea salt.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container and freeze for up to 2 weeks.
